Sprucing up your kitchen WITHOUT substantial renovations.

A client (let’s call her Jane) told us the other day that she has a love/hate relationship with her kitchen. Jane has often thought about renovating, but there are some things about it that she just loves and doesn’t want to see go. She loves the functionality and durability of her built-in oak cabinets, but they’re dated and she never has enough counter space.

We began putting together a plan to rejuvenate her existing kitchen- some upgrades to change the look of her home without the need for substantial renovations. If you have a love/ hate relationship with your own kitchen or you’re looking for ways to spruce up your kitchen without breaking the bank, read on for inspiration!

Tile Backsplash

Adding a backsplash is an easy way to add value and personality to your kitchen. They protect your walls, they’re easy to clean, and they create a focal point in your kitchen that allows you to show off your style!

The options when it comes to tile are nearly limitless. If you want a clean, minimalist look, you can’t go wrong with subway tiles. You can keep it simple and classic or personalize it with an accent strip or a bold colour. Want something more decorative? Consider a glass mosaic or a natural stone backsplash. With so many options, it’s easy to find something that’s uniquely you!

Custom Island

One of Jane’s biggest complaints about her current kitchen is her struggle to find the best use of the little counter space she has. Adding a custom island will give her a great surface for meal prep while also increasing her storage! Whether you want open shelving to display your items, doors to match your existing cupboards or an overhanging counter to make room for bar stools, you can design a custom island to suit your lifestyle. Here’s a tip from our designer: two-toned kitchens are in fashion; consider using the island as an accent to make your kitchen pop!

Cupboard doors

If you love the functionality of your kitchen but hate that it’s outdated, consider swapping out your doors for a more modern look! We can build custom doors to fit most measurements, even on built-in cabinets. We have a variety of woods in dozens of paints and stains, and we offer PVC wrapped doors for a more durable option (great for kids and rental units). If your cabinets are in great shape and they just need a makeover, there’s no need to replace them- just upgrade them!

There are lots of ways to enhance your kitchen without spending thousands on renovations. Mention this post for a complimentary design consultation to see how you can make your kitchen reflect your personality!
